Prevention of Patient Safety Events

Patient Safety Events" is a phrase that is used by quality organizations and regulatory bodies to describe an adverse event or incident that has potential to lead to a worsened patient outcome. In the Perioperative and Procedural areas some examples of those events could be a surgical site infection, a retained foreign body, urinary tract infection or medication error. Often, despite a diligent approach, we have opportunity to improve the outcome for our patients.

SBM & Associates has the expertise and skills to assist you in determining the factors impacting your environment that may be contributing to the unwanted outcome. We can help you look at trends, behaviors and /or processes that have opportunity for improvement. We believe it is important to engage your staff and physicians in the process and we commit the time needed for their participation. We have the expertise to quickly assess your culture; determine with you the priority of the changes needed and develop education to ensure that standards are understood and practiced. With our attention and belief in staff development, we can assist you in the implementation of the process change.
